Accessing the Alberta Market:  A Shift in Philosophical Thinking

Time: 2:00 to 3:00pm
Presenter: Ron Subramanian, Director, Alberta Project Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters
ppt View Presentation

The opportunities available in the Alberta market are vast and long-term.  How can companies from across Canada tap into some of the projects?  Last year, at the first annual National Buyer Seller Forum, businesses from across Canada ventured to Alberta to claim a piece of the pie.  Unfortunately, many quickly learned that this market was like any export market; it was going to take more than one visit to get a contract. The Alberta market hold a wealth of opportunity but it can only be accessed with a very long-term focused strategy.  Ultimately, the opportunities in Alberta represent a larger shift in philosphical thinking for manufacturers.  Canadian manufacturers have to re-invent themselves if they want to survive and ultimately thrive in the 21st century, and Alberta is showing them the way.
The presentation will provide some insight into the lessons learned and how you can make connections within the market.  After spending the past two years navigating through the Alberta oil sands market and working with Alberta manufacturers, EPC firms and owners as well as companies from across the country trying to access the opportunities, Ron has a lot of valuable knowledge to share.
